Heliocentris Fuel Cells AG, a leading system integrator for fuel cells, today announced the delivery of a 32 kW fuel cell system for operation in a hybrid midi-bus owned by the city of Barth in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania. Heliocentris designed and built this 32 kW bus integration unit based on two 16 kW fuel cell units from Hydrogenics. It is used in a midi-bus, a small public transport bus for up to 22 people or tourists. The aim of the pilot project in the city of Barth is to construct and operate a fuel cell hybrid bus operated with hydrogen for tourist traffic - low noise and emission free. Heliocentris Fuel Cells AG, a leading fuel cell system integrator, announces that the company has been selected to be the technical partner for the Hy-Tech-Challenge.08 fuel cell competition.
Hy-Tech-Challenge.08 is a competition devoted entirely to the issue of hydrogen and fuel cells, and is under the patronage of Dr Annette Schavan, the German Education and Research Minister. Educational institutions and companies from all over Germany will provide teams to compete against one another with their hydrogen-fuelled, remote controlled model vehicles.
Organising the competition are the Wasserstoff- und Brennstoffzellen Initiative Hessen, the Hessen Agentur and H2 in Praxis, an initiative of ConActivity KG, Frankfurt.
The teams are provided with pre-qualified fuel cell systems. The fuel cell set, which is provided by Heliocentris is based on a 50 watt fuel cell platform which has been well established in the market for years. As technical partner, Heliocentris will be responsible for configuring and delivering these systems. In addition, Heliocentris will hold introductory workshops for the participants, as well as being available as on-site technical contact. Linde AG will be responsible for hydrogen logistics.
