Conductive Composites

Bipolar Plates for fuel cells present a dilemma, they must be as strong as steel, light as a feather, conductive as copper, inert as gold and cheap as air. We are using thermoplastics with conductive fillers to make composite bipolar plates that approach the requirements of the ideal. We have the capacity to grind thermoplastics to micron particle sizes, mix with conductive particles, and compression mold the plates. Our laboratory can perform physical and electrical testing on the molded plates. Until a final flow field pattern is chosen, our CNC milling machine makes the pattern.

Catalysts and Polymers - Membrane Electrode Assemblies

Our membrane electrode assembly research focuses on optimization of catalyst ink formulation and application. Catalyst cost and ink composition versus performance is one tradeoff we are working on with the goal of making a more efficient fuel cell.

Membrane humidification, the Achilles heel of most proton conducting membranes, is another area of our investigations. Membranes are modified by various means and tested via electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, an analysis tool that can provide an indication of success or failure.

Contract R&D

We have already built and will continue to develop our research capability with a great team of top-notch scientists, engineers and other knowledgeable workers, in order to stay atop the cutting edge and provide continuous improvement of the technology. Our team, their expertise and the equipment we possess or have access to makes us an excellent partner for new product research and development.

H2 ECOnomy is the recipient of US Department of Energy Initiatives for Proliferation Prevention (IPP) research grant for development of new fuel cell components and systems. US National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Russian Kurchatov Institute and Yerevan State University are our partners in this project. We were also chosen to install a groundbreaking combination - photovoltaic powered electrolyzer and fuel cell system, as an extension of the said IPP project.

We are open to collaboration, whether it is a joint research and development project, or an outsourced contract, where we can apply our expertise to solving your problems.
