Power electronics

This sector develops customer-specific solutions for power electronic modules and components, i.e. their design, dimensioning, testing/optimisation and manufacture in small batches.
The following are covered by these services:

  • Power supplies and driver stages
  • DC/DC-converters
  • DC/AC-converters
  • Charging regulators

Measurement and test technology

There are wide range of solutions for acquiring measurement data and using control systems to subsequently process this data. Our extensive experience will be actively put to use during the execution of development contracts.

  • Measurement of electrical and non-electrical variables
  • Adaptation and conversion of measurement values
  • Calibration of measurement devices
  • Acquisition / evaluation / recording of measurement data and parameters

Example:

A stack testing device was developed for the volume production of fuel cells; its concept can also be used and adapted to other PEM-Stacks (on request).

The major features of this testing device are:

  • Adjustable hydrogen pressure on anode side

  • Adjustable air quantity on cathode side

  • Stack temperature regulation

  • Implementation of various operating modes using electronic loads

    - Constant voltage regulation

    - Constant current regulation

  • Visualisation / data recording / parameter setting using integrated USB-measurement box

  • Well laid-out PC-interface ( ProfiLab Expert 4.0 )

    - Stack temperature

    - Stack current

    - Stack voltage

    - Indicator H2-purge intervals / air feed

Control engineering

Every technical issue requiring process organisation, measurement value processing, control function implementation or triggering of other actions/reactions requires a modified control concept which must match the hardware and software requirements profile as closely as possible. Our experience in a wide range of control engineering applications enables us to apply these to developing customer solutions.

  • Use of micro-controllers, e.g. for implementing system controls and remote monitoring/control via GSM

  • Developing PC-based solutions ( embedded PC ) or the use of various PLC-types

  • Upgrading process control systems with various components to permit communication with higher-level control structures and the internet
