| Description | UltraCell is a manufacturer of Reformed Methanol fuel cells for portable applications (25 Watt). In comparison to alternative miniature fuel cell approaches, UltraCell has eliminated the issues associated with direct methanol fuel cells (DMFC) by using a catalytic reforming device integrated at the microscale. Converting methanol fuel to hydrogen in this manner, the UltraCell fuel cell system has demonstrated two times the energy density of DMFC. Furthermore, UltraCell’s fuel cell stack has demonstrated higher power density and is able to operate at higher cell voltage than DMFC, enabling more efficient, compact designs. This technology has applications in military (soldier power, communications), ruggedized laptops, portable devices used by first responders, broadcast video, hybrid power applications. |
